Welcome to Jim and Joyce's travel blog. This blog is for our family and friends who want to follow along as we live our dream of traveling around the country in our Cougar fifth-wheel. Hope you enjoy reading about this as much as we are enjoying living it.

This & That

Last week, since the weather was cloudy and cold (upper 50s to low 60s) we spent some time finishing the set up and doing repairs. Yep, just like at home. We had an overhead cupboard door to fix and Jim replaced the kitchen faucet for the second time. On our first night out we found out that our kitchen faucet had sprung a leak, probably during the cold weather around Thanksgiving. We bought a new one at Home Depot on the way back from the hospital with Joyce and installed it while at Seven Feathers RV Resort waiting for the weather to clear. Then we discovered that it was the water saving type and allowed little to no pressure. So, once we were set up, it was back to Home Depot for the other type.

There is a craft fair here at the clubhouse once a month. Jim took his Pegs & Jokers games and sold 4 sets. He has 4 left for next month.

Birds – birds – birds everywhere! Jim has hung up the hummingbird feeder and 3 finch feeders. We have house finches, goldfinches, sparrows, rock/mourning doves a purple-headed and a red-headed hummingbird.

The birds have figured out a unique way to get water.  They watch for leaking hose connections like the one in this picture.

Wish we could tell you about all the interesting and unique places we have been visiting here in Southern California. Sad to say, the only places we have been visiting lately are urgent care centers. Joyce’s third trip for her bronchitis along with a third round of antibiotics plus some steroids and an inhaler seem to be doing the job. Jim is also on meds for his lingering post nasal drip problem that he has had since Thanksgiving. Boy, this is exciting!

The sun is finally out and the temps are starting to hit the 70’s. We are spending much time sitting in the sun, reading and/or snoozing and Jim has played water volley ball twice. Retirement is nice.

We have three small flags on the front of our trailer – American, Canadian (for Joyce) and Oregon.

Have managed to play Pegs & Jokers several times. The boys keep winning! What’s up with that?
